Kadetsky to Rosenstein to Fleisher to Haskin

The Rosenstein family is another family with whom I have had trouble locating their descendants. In this case, the surname Rosenstein is a common Jewish last name, making it difficult without more detailed information to differentiate which Rosensteins are related to the Kadetsky family. Adele Kadetsky, my ggm's oldest sister, married Joseph Rosenstein. They were responsible for hosting and sponsoring 23 Kadetskys when they arrived at Ellis Island at 56 Broome Street in Manhattan. See the link here for the 103 Kadetsky ship manifest list. The Rosensteins had Bertha, Sarah, Harry and Saul. Bertha married Harry Fleisher. They both sadly died in their 40s. They had 2 kids, Helen and Irving. Helen married Samuel Haskin. Does anyone have contact information for the family?

Loving great grandfather of Aidan and Sydney Conrad and Jonah and Phinn Haskin. Services were held in New York. Bruce and Carol will be at their residence Sunday 2-6 pm. Interment will follow at New Montefiore Cemetery on Long Island at 1 p.m. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the Goldstein Funeral Chapel, Inc., Edison, N.J. Shiva will be held nightly at the Miller home Sunday through Thursday, with services at 8 p.m. Mrs. Miller spent over 30 years as a physical education teacher at the Dalton School in New York City. She was the devoted wife of Michael; cherished mother of Matthew and Elyse, and was loved by her father, Sam; her brother, Bruce, as well as two nieces and three nephews. Memorial donations may be made to the Jimmy Fund at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute, P.O. Box 849168, Boston, Mass. 02284."

Rosenstein and Wolf Kadetzky 1905 NY Census

In the 1905 NY State Census, Joseph (43) and Adel (39) Rosenstein lived at 56 Broome Street with Bertha (18), Sarah (16) and Solly (6). Boarding with them was Adele's brother, Wolf (William) Kadetzky (20). Wolf had resided in the US for 4 years.

Below are Abraham Leib and Toba Kadetsky's headstones. This is likely Abraham 1903. They are both buried in Mt Judah. His death certificate confirm his father's English name was Israel.

Jacob (Yaakov) Kadetsky ben Shaya Aziel

Born in Oct 1877 in Russia/Poland. Jacob (Yaakov) died on Sep 21, 1961; he was 83. Buried in Washington Cemetery.

Tombstone:
Yaakov ben Shaya Aziel. based on the JewishGen burial registry that had documentation connecting him to Adele Rosenstein.

Jacob (Yaakov) married Martha (Masha) Eisenberg, daughter of Abraham Eisenberg & Hinde Kikoler. Born in 1883. Martha (Masha) died in Manhattan, NY, on Jan 23, 1929; she was 46. Buried on Jan 24, 1929, in Washington Cemetery.

On June 1, 1907, Mashe Kadecka (28) arrived at Ellis Island with Bluma Rochel (2) on the Main. They joined their husband/father at Broome Str.

Born on Sep 16, 1884. Immigrated on Jul 6, 1901 to Ellis Island, NY. William (Wolf) died on Jul 23, 1959; he was 74. Buried in Beth David, Elmont, NY.

On Nov 18, 1906 when William (Wolf) was 22, he married Dora (Devora Meryl) Tulipan, daughter of Pinchas Tulipan, in Manhattan, NY.11 Dora (Devora Meryl) died on Aug 16, 1960.

On July 6, 1901 Wolf Kadetzky (17) arrived at Ellis Island on the Phonecia. His last residence was Biezun, Russia. His destination is listed as his brother-in-law Jos. Rosenstein at 56 Broome Str.

1910 US Census:
William (25) and Dora (24) Cadetsky lived at East 103 St in Manhattan, NY with children Jennie (2) and Anna (1 yr, 3 m). William and Dora were born in Russia while their daughters were born in NY. Dora’s parents were from Austria. William immigrated in 1902 and Dora immigrated in 1903. William worked as an operator at a dress company.

1920 US Census:
William (35) and Dorothy (24) Kadetsky lived at 510 Concord Ave, Bronx, NY with children Jennie (12), Annie (11), Gertrude (9), and Philip (3 yr, 4m). William and Dorothy immigrated in 1900 and were naturalized in 1904. William was born in Russia, Dorothy in Austria and all the kids in NY. William worked as an operator in a dress factory.

1930 US Census:
William (44) and Dora (44) Kadetsky lived at 1254 Whaler Ave, Bronx, NY with children Jean (21), Gertrude (19), and Philip (14). William immigrated in 1900 and Dora immigrated in 1901. Both were naturalized. William was born in Poland, Dorothy in Austria and all the kids in NY. William worked as an operator in a dress factory, Jean worked as Clerical for the telephone company and Gertrude worked in a department store.

Living at the same address in 1930 as per the census was Samuel and Clara Tulipan of possible relation to Dora Tulipan.

Abraham Kadetsky Born in 1868. Immigrated on Jul 9, 1903 to Ellis Island, NY. Abraham died in Manhattan, NY, on Oct 20, 1926; he was 58. Buried on Oct 21, 1926 in Mt Judah.

i. Bluma. Born in 1890 in Plock, Russia. Immigrated on Jun 16, 1906 to Ellis Island, NY. On Feb 22, 1914 when Bluma was 24, she married Robert (Rubin) Sperling, son of Jacob Sperling & Bei, in Brooklyn, NY. Born in 1884 in Plock, Russia.
ii. Benjamin H. Born in 1896. Immigrated on Jun 19, 1906 to Ellis Island, NY. On Nov 26, 1919 when Benjamin H. was 23, he married Sadie M. Isaac22, daughter of Shmuel Isaac & Gussie Lippman, in Brooklyn, NY. Born in 1897.

Ellis Island ship Manifests:
On July 9, 1903 two Abram Kadeckis, ages 35 and 36, arrived together on the Patricia from Biezun, Poland. On their manifest, it is noted that they are cousins. They were joining their brother-in-law Josef Rosenstein at 56 Broome Str in New York.

On June 16, 1906, Taube Kadecki (42) arrived on Finland from Biezun, Russia with Blume (16), Benjamin (9), Elie (6), Chiame (5). They joined their husband/father, Abram Kadecki at 56 Broome St, in NY.

1920 US Census:
Abram (56) and Tillie (53) Kadetsky lived at 363 Bushwick Ave. in Brooklyn NY with Ely (20) and Henry (18). Abram immigrated in 1902 and the rest of the family immigrated in 1906. Abram worked as a pressor. Living with them at the time was Morris (24) Sperling who worked as a salesman in a shoe store.

Adele Rosenstein bat Shaya Aziel

Adele Kadetsky was born on Jan 18, 1870 in Poland as per her death certificate. She immigrated on Jun 5, 1896 to Ellis Island, NY. Adele died in Brooklyn, NY on Mar 18, 1937; she was 67. Buried in Washington Cemetery.

Death Certificate: Father was Israel Kadetsky and mother was Rose.
In 1884 when Adele was 14, she married Joseph Rosenstein, son of Zelig Rosenstein & Anna Levine, in Biezun, Poland as per Biezun PSA record search on JRI Poland. Their names are listed as Josek Rozensztejn and Udla Kadecka. Josef was born on Dec 15, 1864 in Russia. Immigrated in 1889 as per 1900 US census. Joseph died in Brooklyn, NY, on Dec 31, 1935 as per the death certificate; he was 71. Buried on Jan 2, 1936 in Washington Cemetery as per Jewishgen.org burial registry.

They had the following children:

Sarah (Sore). Born in Oct 1889 in Russia. Immigrated on Jun 5, 1896 to Ellis Island

Saul (Solomon). Born in May 1899 in New York.

On June 5, 1896 Hodel Rosenstein (26) arrived at Ellis Island on the Bohemia. She arrived with 3 children; Beile (9), Sore (7), and Chame (4).

Census:
Joseph (35) and Adeline (30) Rosenstein lived at 56 Broome Str. in Manhattan, NY, with children Bertha (13), Sarah (10), Harry (9), and Solomon (1). Joseph’s brother, Bernhard (37) was living with them as well. The following birthdays are listed; Joseph-5/1865, Adeline-5/1870, Bertha-7/1886, Sarah-10/1889, Harry-6/1890, Solomon-5/1899, and Bernhard 7/1862. Everyone was born in Russia except for Solomon. Joseph immigrated in 1889, Adeline immigrated in 1897 with Bertha, Sarah, and Harry and Bernhard immigrated in 1900. Joseph and Bernhard worked as tailors.
